AGREEMENTS
  • During the February retreat, faculty committees will join together to develop an initial model or models for the new USG core curriculum framework.

  • There will be some smaller group breakout sessions for the purpose of brainstorming models.

  • Ultimate goal will be to develop a core curriculum framework that is coherent, imaginative, intellectually compelling and transferable.

  • The BOR expects that the new core will have a significant global component and include appropriate instruction in math or quantitative reasoning and writing.

  • Transferability must be maintained in the new core curriculum framework.

  • System core curriculum framework will have common core competencies but these should be general enough to enable System institutions to develop curricula responsive to student populations and mission.

  • A limited number of learning outcomes will be developed for each competency.

  • Feedback from USG faculty on initial model or models will be sought electronically soon after the February retreat.
